Microneedling

Facial rejuvenation. No surgery. No injections. No downtime.

Why Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a safe and effective way to treat wrinkles, acne, scarring, hyperpigmentation, and sagging skin without the need for surgery or injections. A device with very tiny needles is used to puncture the skin multiple times at a controlled depth and speed to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. Our office uses a next generation AcuMicro Plus pen that is able to quickly and painlessly create hundreds of micro-channels in the skin which, in addition to triggering the healing response for your body to increase collagen and elastin production, also encourages topical serum absorption by up to 2000%. We use only the purest ingredients in our serums that are inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine and are clinically proven to lift, firm, brighten, and de-puff the skin.

Clinically Proven Natural Ingredients

Immediately after Microneedling your skin is able to absorb the beneficial ingredients in topical serums by over 2000% the normal rate. That is why we use high quality, natural, and highly concentrated ingredients that show high performance in clinical studies.

Pricing and Packages

Microneedling is wonderful as a stand alone treatment or can be combined with Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture for more profound results. Although you will see a change after just one Microneedling treatment, it is recommended to receive between 3 - 6 treatments for results that can last for up to 5 years.

Microneedling treatments should be spaced 4 weeks apart to allow time for the skin to heal and repair in between. For combination packages treatment frequency is once per week - Microneedling on the first week, followed by 3 weeks of Facial Acupuncture, and repeat cycle as necessary. Consistency is key - after one to three months at this frequency, noticeable and lasting results will be seen.

FAQs

  • Does it hurt?

    • No, the treatment is relatively painless. We apply a numbing cream to the skin for 15 minutes before to ensure total comfort.

  • When will I notice results?

    • A few days after the treatment you will notice a "lit from within" glow and smaller pores. After about 3 weeks you will see more significant change in texture, fine lines, and tone, since it takes 3-4 weeks for new collagen and elastin cells to be made. After 3 months (or 3 treatments) you will see more significant accumulated results.

  • Will I bleed? I've seen a few terrifying pictures on the internet...

    • The old way of thinking with Microneedling was "the deeper the better," so it was common for there to be small amounts of blood that would come to the surface of the skin. Newer research has shown that you really don't need to needle as deeply in order to stimulate optimal collagen and elastin production. Most of our treatment is done at .5 - 1.5mm depths. It is common to see some redness and swelling in the skin after the treatment, but no bleeding.

  • How is this different from the dermaroller I use at home?

    • Dermarollers are less favored these days because the needles tend to tear or rip the skin as they are rolled across the face, causing unnecessary trauma to the skin. They are really meant for one-time use, even though many people use them over and over again. But with each use the needles get duller and dirtier as they are impossible to thoroughly clean or sanitize. In contrast, a Microneedling pen like the AcuMicro Plus uses single-use disposable needle cartridges and moves so quickly up and down (1800 rpm!) that it creates very precise microscopic channels into the epidermis with no tearing, pulling, or cutting of the skin.

  • How much downtime is there after the treatment?

    • There is no real downtime. Your skin may be flushed and slightly swollen for the rest of the day though, so it is not recommended on the day of a big event.

  • How often can I have Microneedling?

    • Once every 4 - 6 weeks to allow the skin to properly heal in between and new cells to proliferate. There is no limit to how many months or years you could continue at this frequency, however most patients see the results they are looking for in 3 - 6 treatments and might then choose to come in once or twice a year to maintain those results.

  • What kind of preparation and aftercare should I expect?

    • It is best to avoid strong skincare actives like retinol, acids, and vitamin C for a couple days before and after the treatment. Depending on your skin's sensitivity you should also avoid the sun, exercise, saunas, swimming, and strong exfoliation for 1 - 3 days after the treatment. No makeup for 1 - 2 days after. On the same day, only use hydrating serums and sprays provided by or approved by us, no oils or creams.

  • I'm pregnant or have a dermatological or medical condition, can I still get Microneedling?

    • Please call our office prior to your appointment as this is decided on a case by case basis.

  • Is Microneedling even more effective with plasma, PRP, or radiofrequency added in?

    • Although some practitioners choose to use devices that combine radiofrequency with Microneedling, there are no proven additional benefits to this combination. Admittedly PRP and plasma can be powerful (and expensive) additions to Microneedling, however we choose to use vegan stem cells and other herbal ingredients in our treatments for both their clinical results and reduced risk when considering using biological samples.

  • Can I have Microneedling done if I am currently getting injectables, fillers, microdermabrasion, lasers, peels or other in-office procedures?

    • It is best to wait at least 2 weeks after any injectable and any of these in-office procedures. For at-home peels, wait at least a week before Microneedling. If you have any other questions or concerns please call our office before your appointment at 914-246-0148.
